Final presntation report
On Wednesday
29th early morning Khalifa AlKhoori presented about road accidents
with Mr.Hedley; in the introduction he said in the past 30 years means of
transportation were not highly available as of now. Cars were not invented as
much as people needed, there were no traffic lights and roads were simply sand.
As years passed by, car inventions changed until the roads themselves cannot take
all the transportation and it leads to road accident.
He said that
the main causes of road accidents are those drivers that over speed and they drive
like they own the road; those who feel excitement and adventure when they drive
so fast and overtake all the time; also those who drive with the influence of
alcohol can’t concentrate while driving; lastly he said using mobile phones
while driving is a high risk and you lose all your concentration and focus on
who you are talking to. As a consequence he said that all of those causes would
lead us to great changes in our life; mostly they died or were injured. Khalifa
talked about the possible solutions; he said that government must assign every
police station a high-restricted law with strict punishments so that drivers
will motivate themselves in driving, increase radars and put more signs to make
people aware.

Meeting Reflection
I
had the opportunity to attend a round table in-class meeting on March
14th 2013 in room J12 at 1400hrs along with three other group
members. The Prinicpal, Mohamed AlFahim, opened the meeting at 1410hrs and
Khalid Al Khoori listed the various agenda points of the meeting. There was a
high level of participation of all the group members where all the points were
discussed and deliberated. The different perspectives from different
participants were taken into account including the disagreements and the
constructive suggestions. Mansoor Al Hashimi opposition of getting a fast food
restaurant was taken positively by other group members when the group was
discussing the type of food that is being served in the school, especially by
Khalifa Al Khoori, who proposed Subway as a healthier option. The Vice
Principal, Khalid Al Khoori as well as the Principal supported having a good
food brand in the school. The dietary habits of students with prominent fast
food items making its way in the school and its resultant adverse impact on the
health was constructively handled with the suggestion of educating and
creating awareness amongst the students and the parents. Representation from Khalifa
as member of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority added significant value on the
development of a healthy menu with nutritious food. The significance of keeping
prices affordable of the food items was deliberated by the group given the
price sensitivity of the students and questions from Mr. Hedley helped the
group understand the gaps between what is being served (i.e cold food) and what
the school wishes to serve ( i.e. healthy food) to keep the students satisfied.
The
meeting was opened and closed in an appropriate manner and was
handled effectively with a clear agenda. Participants took turns and
demonstrated active listening skills and used positive and supportive verbal
and non verbal communication with high level of understanding of the topic. The
overall participation level of each member contributed in deliberating the
overall objective of providing nutritious, healthy and tasty food in line with
the expectations of the students by introducing a good food brand like Subway.
